The Prosecutor’s office of the Ivanovo region filed a lawsuit on the circulation of assets of criminal authorities in the state for a total amount of more than 6 billion rubles. This is reported on the website of the department.

According to the prosecutor’s office, since the 1990s, an association has been created in the region under the leadership of two local residents “endowed with the status of so-called thief in law and straddresser in the criminal environment, respectively,” and one leader of an organized criminal group that engaged in extortion, robbery, robbery, forceful redistribution of economic spheres of influence, intimidation, and also integrated into the authorities. It also included 12 participants. They were repeatedly convicted of serious and especially serious crimes.

“Members of the association are closely integrated into the recognized extremist movement “AUE”, whose activities in Russia are prohibited, adhere to criminal traditions and ideology”, – stated in the message.

Since 2013, the criminal community has controlled almost the entire sphere of passenger road transport in the Ivanovo region. From 2016 to 2019, under the leadership of one of its participants, illegal felling of forest plantations totaling more than 30 million rubles was organized. In addition, they collected money “from the so-called overseers in the region for cities and districts, as well as for correctional institutions.”.

The members of the association own vehicles, about 40 companies and more than 250 expensive real estate objects, including production and industrial sites located in the cities of Ivanovo, Vichuga and Moscow. Among the nominal owners of property are also relatives and relatives of members of the criminal community who help manage the business. Illegal income, they were sent abroad, and also directed “to finance activities against the life and health of citizens, disorganization of the activities of state authorities, the growth of assets of organized criminal community”.

"In this regard, the prosecutor of the Ivanovo region sent to the Ivanovo district court of the region a claim to ban the activities of the association in the territory of the Russian Federation in connection with the implementation of extremist activities, the circulation of property of participants to the state, as well as interests in companies totaling more than 6 billion rubles," the report said.

The court imposed on the property of the members of the association interim measures that “do not interfere with the payment of current payments, including the payment of wages and the purchase of fuel in order to ensure transport accessibility.”.

In the summer of 2020, the Supreme Court recognized the AUE movement as extremist (the abbreviation stands for either “arrested unit” or “Arrested criminal unity”) and banned its activities in the country. The Prosecutor General’s Office called the AUE “a youth movement of extremist orientation”, whose activities are based on “criminal extremist ideology, pose a real threat to the life and health of citizens, society and the state”.

The acronym AUE is used in criminal slang as a greeting. Members of the AUE community popularize the criminal way of life, advocate for the recognition of the authorities of the criminal world and prison patterns of behavior in everyday life.
