In St. Petersburg, police detained two men who robbed a female courier who had previously taken money from a pensioner for transfer to fraudsters.

In St. Petersburg, police detained two men who robbed a female courier who had previously taken money from a pensioner for transfer to fraudsters. This was reported by the press service of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
“The police detained two residents of Novy Devyatkino, suspected of robbing the courier of fraudsters”, – stated in the message.
According to the agency, a 38-year-old woman contacted the police. She said an unknown person pushed her in the back and snatched a package of money she had previously received from an elderly woman. At the same time, a 76-year-old resident contacted the police. According to the woman, a few days earlier unknown on the phone persuaded her to “declar for safety” the money. On October 3, she gave an unfamiliar woman more than 3 million rubles.
On the fact of attempted fraud on an especially large scale, a criminal case was initiated under part 3 of Article 30 (attempted crime) and part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale).
In relation to the detainees, a criminal case was opened on robbery under paragraph "b" of part 3 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery committed by an organized group).
Earlier, a 77-year-old resident of St. Petersburg from the Krasnogvardeysky district became the victim of a large-scale fraudulent scheme. As reported on October 2 in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, in total, the woman gave fraudsters about 182 million rubles.
