Before his birthday, the artist did not live only three days — October 6 he was supposed to be 79 years old, said the Novomoskovsk branch of the Tula Academic Drama Theater named after M. Gorky, where Popov served in recent years.
Vasily Popov was born on October 6, 1947. Before his acting career, he graduated from the Trinity Aviation Technical School of Civil Aviation, then received an education at the Faculty of Directing and Acting at the Kemerovo Institute of Culture.
Popov began acting in the cinema in 1979. He is best known for his roles in the films “Fox Hunt” by Vadim Abdrashitov, “Attack” by Igor Nikolaev, as well as “The Fire in the White Night”, “General” and “The Last Hunt”. The artist himself noted that work with director Vadim Abdrashitov and actors Vladimir Gostyukhin and Irina Muravyova in “Fox Hunt” seriously influenced his attitude to cinema.
Since 2016, he was a member of the troupe of the Russian Drama and Comedy Theater of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Among the latest theatrical works of Popov are the roles of Kostylev in At the Bottom, Shurygin in Happy Day, Lisa’s father in A Dawns Here Are Quiet, Paul Ford in Pollianna, Pantelei Zakharovich in A Tale of Lost Time. He also played several characters in the play Dimitri (Dmitry Donskoy).
At the end of September, actor and stuntman Oleg Naumov died. He was a master of sports of international class in taekwondo according to the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF), winner of the black belt II dan, bronze medalist of the 1994 World Cup and two-time champion of Kyrgyzstan in 1996.
