She died Tuesday, October 6, at her home in Los Angeles. He did not give a reason, but noted that the actress died a natural death.
Saint was born on July 4, 1924 in Newark, New Jersey. In 1946, she graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in theatre. The first acting roles Saint played while studying in university productions.
After graduation, she moved to New York, where she studied acting. She began her career with work on television, where she starred in advertising and participated in the series Family of One Man.
Saint's film debut was Elia Kazan's drama At the Port (1954), where she played Edie Doyle alongside Marlon Brando. For this role, the actress received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
One of her most famous subsequent works was the role of Eve Kendall in Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest (1959). Saint also starred in the films “Rainy Tree”, “Exodus”, “Grand Prix”, “Nothing in General”, “Superman Returns” and others.
In addition to the Oscars, St was an Emmy winner: in 1990, she received an award for her supporting role in the miniseries People Like Us. The Academy has nominated her for an Emmy five times. She has also been nominated for Golden Globes and BAFTA for Full Rain Hat.
