Nidal Malik Hassan is a former US Army Major and military psychiatrist. On November 5, 2009, he opened fire at a military training center at Fort Hood Base in Texas, killing 13 people and wounding 32 others.
On August 28, 2013, the court sentenced the man to death. The execution by shooting was approved by US President Donald Trump.
