American R&B and soul singer Freddie Jackson has died at the age of 70. The family of the musician published a message on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized in Russia as extremist and banned). The cause of death was not named by relatives.
It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Freddie Jackson, who retired last night. Freddie was more than a legendary voice. He was a kind and generous man who loved his fans, family, friends and music with all his heart.
Freddie Jackson began his solo career in the 1980s after collaborating with Mystic Merlin and singer Melba Moore. His most famous works include You Are My Lady, Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake), Have You Ever Loved Somebody, and Jam Tonight. From 1985 to 1992, 19 tracks of the singer entered the top ten of the R&B chart, ten of them took first place.
In 1986, he received two Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance You Are My Lady.
