According to the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, the historic mansion into which the ship crashed belonged to Cossack Necmettin Efendi, one of the chief judges of the Ottoman Empire. The house is currently owned by blogger and entrepreneur Derin Mermerjee.
The accident occurred on October 6 at about 23:30 in the area of Candilly. A passenger ferry was touring the Bosphorus when, for unknown reasons, it began to drift towards the shore. First, he touched the moored yacht, and then collided with the mansion, specify the Turkish media. CCTV footage shows the ship destroying a dock near the house.
Mermerjee said on social media that she would seek compensation through court.
In August, a fire broke out in the Fethiye district of the Turkish province of Mugla on board a tourist boat. The ship was carrying 115 people. Passengers, including children, donned life jackets and jumped into the water. As a result of the incident, no one died, doctors helped tourists.
