There were two people on board Van’s RV-7A. The plane crashed near Rooster Run Golf Club after taking off from Petaluma Municipal Airport.
Arriving at the scene, police found the wreckage of the plane engulfed in fire. Inside were the bodies of two dead, their identities have not yet been established.
The investigation into the causes of the crash began by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Earlier, on September 5, a small plane with four people on board crashed near Fresno airport in the US state of California. As a result, two children died, two more adults were seriously injured, they were hospitalized in critical condition.
