The World Health Organization (WHO) has not confirmed new cases of the disease in the Irkutsk region, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported, Interfax reports.
As noted by the Agency, in social networks there were reports of the disease of a person in contact with an employee of the Irkutsk anti-plague Institute — she had previously been identified community-acquired pneumonia. Information Rospotrebnadzor called untrue.
“The World Health Organization also does not confirm the availability of information about new cases of the disease,” Rospotrebnadzor said.
The Ministry noted that the WHO in response to the request was sent full information about the activities.
On the eve of Rospotrebnadzor reported that the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the Irkutsk region, the cities of Irkutsk and Shelekhov calm. The results of almost 5 thousand laboratory studies did not reveal any dangerous pathogenic microorganisms.
In early October, an extraordinary meeting of the regional sanitary and anti-epidemic commission was held in the Irkutsk region together with the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova. According to the governor Igor Kobzev, the meeting was convened because of information about suspicion “in case of a disease by a resident of the region with a particularly dangerous infection.” What kind of infection we are talking about, the head of the region did not specify.
As Rospotrebnadzor later reported, in the Irkutsk region, as well as Irkutsk and Shelekhov, a special set of measures was organized in connection with the case of an employee of the Irkutsk Antiplague Institute of Siberia and the Far East. She was diagnosed with pneumonia of unknown etiology.
The Kremlin said that Russia informed the WHO about the situation in the Irkutsk region “in accordance with existing practice.”.
