The beaches of the federal territory Sirius in the Imereti lowland on the Black Sea coast have been reopened, the head of the FT administration Dmitry Plishkin said in a telegram channel.
According to him, samples of sea water in the water area of Sirius showed that it is safe for swimming. The inspection was carried out by Rospotrebnadzor, and no traces of oil hydrocarbons were found in the water.
Experts also checked the air: it turned out that the level of pollutants is much lower than acceptable standards. “It has therefore been decided to open beaches on federal territory. Together with specialists of relevant departments and services, we will continue monitoring the state of the air, water area and coastline, Plishkin added.
On the night of October 6, the Liberian-flagged tanker Aframax Rio, carrying oil, was attacked by unmanned boats off the Black Sea coast. Open burning on the tanker was eliminated on the afternoon of October 7. All 23 crew members were rescued and no injuries were reported. After the fire, the authorities of Sochi closed the embankments and beaches, and experts began to monitor the state of water and air.
