The Ministry of Education of Russia decided to include in the school curriculum a new course on artificial intelligence (AI) and information security. This was stated by Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov at the plenary session “Artificial intelligence for a breakthrough in education and science” of the forum “Digital days of Innopolis”.
“From next September, the next academic year, for all schools from the 5th to the 11th grade will be the course “Artificial intelligence and information security”, – said Kravtsov (quoted by TASS).
According to the minister, the course will be tested from the second quarter of the current academic year. In the next academic year, the course will be compulsory.
Earlier, on September 20, the Ministry of Education issued guidelines on the use of AI in schools. According to the document, students of grades 5-9 can use neural networks to search for information, explain complex concepts and test hypotheses. High school students were also allowed to use AI in design and research work.
The Agency separately warned about the risks when working with neural networks. In particular, teachers are not recommended to upload personal data of students and parents, grades and school documents to public services. In addition, materials created with the help of AI must be checked for reliability.
