The decision to initiate a criminal case against investigator Nikita Tulupov in the case of the disappearance of jewelry seized from blogger Valeria Chekalina (Lerchek) was canceled. This was reported in the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow.
The investigation tried to obtain house arrest for Tulupov (accused under Article 286 of the Criminal Code – abuse of authority), but the prosecutor’s office blocked this step.
“In the court hearing, the representative of the prosecutor’s office objected to the satisfaction of this request, indicating that the decision to initiate criminal proceedings against N.V. Tulupov had been canceled. In connection with the data presented by the prosecutor's office, the court refused to satisfy the investigator's request, the statement said.
The case was opened after employees of the internal security Ministry revealed violations in the storage of seized property. Lawyer Chekalina Viktor Dugin said that one of the investigators after the end of the investigation into the criminal case Lerchek and her ex-wife Artem Chekalin did not return the blogger jewelry in the amount of 14.4 million rubles.
Tulupov did not admit guilt, wrote TASS.
