In Florida, two people were killed in Escambia County, and two more in Alabama.
The hurricane hit the Gulf Coast in Florida on the evening of Oct. 9, causing strong winds and torrential rains. It reached land near the city of Destin as a category 2 hurricane with wind gusts of up to 175 km/h, after which it weakened to a post-tropical cyclone.
In the southeastern United States, the threat of strong winds and individual tornadoes persisted. Restoration work began in the region, hundreds of thousands of consumers were left without electricity.
Earlier, the US Department of Energy allowed to urgently provide up to 4 million barrels of oil from the strategic reserve to eliminate supply disruptions caused by the hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. ExxonMobil and BP America will be able to receive up to 2 million barrels each with a commitment to return oil in 2027 along with additional volumes.
