Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the grain harvest in the country this year will again exceed 100 million tons. He said this in congratulating workers of agriculture and processing industry on their professional holiday.
“This year, a decent grain harvest will be received again, with a solid reserve exceeding the bar of 100 million tons,” Putin said.
According to him, the Russian agro-industrial complex continued its steady work even in difficult conditions. The production of meat, milk, eggs and other products is also at a good level.
The President noted that agricultural producers faced difficulties due to sanctions, infrastructure and export barriers, as well as rising costs. The state will continue to support farmers, including with the provision of fuel and seed material, transportation and marketing of products.
Among the key priorities for the development of the industry, Putin called the strengthening of technological capabilities, including breeding, genetics, seed production, biotechnology and the introduction of modern technology.
The head of state also stressed the need to train specialists, attract young people and develop rural areas, including increasing the availability of housing, education and medical care.
The Day of Worker of Agriculture and Processing Industry is annually celebrated in Russia on the second Sunday of October. In 2026, the holiday falls on October 11. The modern date of the celebration was established by the decree of the President of Russia in 1999.
