The founder of “Rybar” returned to Russia after detention in Montenegro
After returning to Russia, Zvinchuk said he was not afraid of being handed over to the US or EU countries. According to him, the Montenegrin authorities sent requests to Interpol and the European police, but showed no interest in him
The founder of the project “Fisherman” Mikhail Zvinchuk, detained earlier in Montenegro, returned to Russia with his wife, TASS and “Izvestia”.
He told reporters at the airport that he was not afraid that the Montenegrin authorities would hand him over to the United States or EU countries. When we sent requests to Interpol and the Europol, and we were, in fact, no one interested. The rumors that we are a desirable target for someone are not true, he told reporters at the Moscow airport.
According to Zvinchuk, he entered Montenegro legally. When crossing the border, the border guards showed no interest in his identity. The reason for the detention, he suggested, could be a request to film in the monastery.
“As soon as we began to consider such a sensitive issue as a church schism, from a cultural point of view, we became a threat to national security,” he added.
Zvinchuk said that there is no Russophobia in Montenegro. Negative attitude towards Russians, according to him, manifests itself mainly at the level of special services.
On October 9, the security forces of Montenegro detained Zvinchuk, who is under British sanctions, and several of his colleagues. The Rybar project then stated that the team was in the country legally and complied with local legislation.
