In Moscow, the night of October 12 was the warmest for this date in the history of observations at the reference weather station VDNKh: the minimum temperature was plus 12.5 degrees, said the leading specialist of the weather center “Phobos” Evgeny Tishkovets.
The previous record was held since 1981, when the temperature on the night of October 12 did not fall below plus 11.4 degrees. Thus, the current figure exceeded it by 1.1 degrees.
According to the weather forecaster, for the entire period of observations, the night temperature above plus 10 degrees on this date was met on average once every 15 years. The current values correspond to the summer: the climatic norm of night temperature in June is plus 11.5 degrees, in July - plus 13.5, in August - plus 12.
In the center of Moscow, on Balchug, the minimum temperature reached plus 13.6 degrees. In the suburbs by morning it ranged from plus 9.2 degrees in Silver Ponds to plus 12 in the Railway.
About the new wave of Atlantic heat at the beginning of the week warned on October 10, the leading specialist of the weather center “Phobos” Mikhail Leus. He said that the temperature in Moscow will exceed the climate norm by 5-8 degrees, which will make it possible to update daily temperature records. At the same time, on the weekend, October 10-11, the forecaster expected cooler weather, close to normal, with local rains and gusty winds
Tishkovets on September 25 told RBC that October on the Russian plain will be atypically warm and arid. He linked warming earlier in the month to the arrival of a blocking anticyclone and expected up to plus 18 degrees in the afternoon. According to him, this weather could last about ten days - twice as long as the usual duration of the "old" Indian summer. The forecaster estimated the shortage of precipitation in October at 30-40%.
