Russian Railways Holding (RZD) will not introduce new rules limiting the height of carriers for pets on long-distance trains. The company reported this in its Telegram channel.

“We have studied a lot of feedback – both animal owners and passengers without pets – and decided not to introduce changes to the Rules for the carriage of pets accompanied by owners on long-distance trains from February 1, 2027,” the statement said.

The previous requirements will continue to apply: the dimensions of the carry should correspond to the dimensions of the luggage space, and the sum of its length, width and height should not exceed 180 cm, and the weight - 75 kg.

On October 22, the Federal Passenger Company (FPC) (a subsidiary of Russian Railways) announced that from February 1, the height of the carrier, which can be placed in places for hand luggage, should not exceed 30 cm. The FPC explained that this height corresponds to the design of most cars.

It was planned to oblige the passenger to buy an additional seat and place a carrier above 30 cm on it.
