Reuters learned about paid accelerated access to Bloomberg posts trump
Truth Social, a social network created specifically for Trump’s posts, has reached agreements with Bloomberg and two Wall Street firms for faster access to the publications of the American leader at a price of up to $100,000 a month
The social network Truth Social, created by US President Donald Trump, has concluded agreements to provide paid accelerated access to its publications, Reuters reports, citing informed sources.
Clients of the service were Bloomberg news agency and two Wall Street financial companies - Susquehanna International Group and Jump Trading, specializing in high-frequency and algorithmic trading. The cost of the service reaches $100 thousand (about 8.05 million rubles) per month.
The paid service Truth API allows you to receive Trump publications faster than with normal use of the social network. According to Trump Media, the time advantage is 50 milliseconds. This could give traders an edge when making trades, as the US president’s statements can influence financial markets.
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which owns Truth Social, unveiled the service in July. In August, she announced the conclusion of more than 10 agreements with clients, mainly Wall Street trading companies, which pay from $ 60 thousand (about 4.8 million rubles) to $ 100 thousand (about 8.05 million rubles) monthly. Reuters could not independently confirm this data.
Trump Media confirmed the demand for the Truth API, but called the agency’s sources misleading. Bloomberg, Jump Trading and Susquehanna declined to comment.
Democrats have criticized paid access to Trump's publications. In July, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff asked the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to check whether the service violates securities laws.
In August, Intercept Media and the nonprofit Freedom of the Press Foundation filed a lawsuit against Trump. The plaintiffs demanded to prohibit the White House from publishing official state statements exclusively in Truth Social, if there is paid accelerated access to them. Such practices may violate the constitutional rights of citizens and provide an advantage to large financial companies. The trial is ongoing.
According to Reuters, 41% of Trump Media shares are managed by the president's son, Donald Trump Jr. The only beneficiary of these shares is Trump himself.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle said the president and his family are not directly involved in investment decisions. At the same time, he did not comment on accusations that Trump used his position for personal interests.
Since the beginning of the year, Trump Media shares have lost more than 50% of their value. The market capitalization of the company decreased to about $ 1.8 billion (about 145 billion rubles.) compared to $ 8 billion (about 644 billion rubles.) at the time of its release on the exchange in March 2024. Since 2024, the company's losses, including non-monetary write-offs, amounted to about $ 1.76 billion (about 142.3 billion rubles).
Truth Social was launched by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) in February 2022. The reason for its creation was the blocking of accounts of the politician on Twitter (now X), Facebook and Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized in Russia as extremist and banned) after the assault on the Capitol in January 2021. The platform’s interface largely replicates X’s design, and Trump’s own publications are a key piece of content.
