In the state Duma recalled a three-day weekend for Easter in 2027
Orthodox Easter in 2027 will fall on May 2 and coincide with a three-day weekend in honor of the Festival of Spring and Labor.
Orthodox Easter in 2027 will fall on May 2 and coincide with a three-day weekend in honor of the Festival of Spring and Labor. This was reported by the first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on labor, social policy and veterans Affairs Daria Lantratova (“United Russia”).
In 2027, we will have a rare calendar coincidence. The holiday of spring and labor, may 1, falls on Saturday, and may 2 we will celebrate Orthodox Easter, — said the Deputy.
Lantratova explained that due to the coincidence of May Day with Saturday, the weekend will be postponed to Monday, May 3. Thus, with a five-day working week, Russians will be able to rest for three consecutive days - from May 1 to 3. An additional day of rest is associated with the postponement of the weekend in honor of May Day, and not with Easter.
The last time Orthodox Easter was on May 2 in 2021. In 2026, it was celebrated on April 12, and the next Monday was a normal working day.
The government on September 18 approved the calendar of weekends for 2027. The May holiday weekend is divided into two periods: from 1 to 3 May and from 8 to 10 May. Their total duration will be six days.
Three-day weekends are also provided on February 21-23, March 6-8 and June 12-14. In November, the Russians will rest four days in a row – from 4 to 7 November.
The date of Easter changes every year. In the Orthodox tradition, the holiday can fall on the period from April 4 to May 8. In 2027, it will be preceded by Lent, which will last from March 15 to May 1 inclusive.
