“The total number of outbreaks in less than two days, thus, is already 35, and there is no doubt that by the end of the day it may reach 40 or even 50,” the report said.
The main source of activity, scientists called a large group of sunspots, which is located almost in the center of the visible disk of the Sun. The growth of flare activity, as noted in the laboratory, comes against the background of the perturbed magnetosphere of the Earth: at night it entered the zone of action of a large coronal hole. Magnetic storms have not yet started, but the magnetosphere is in an unstable state. If powerful flares are added to this, the reaction of the magnetic field can be violent, up to the highest level of storms.
The series began on November 5 with an outbreak of class M3.6, which became the strongest since October 10. The place of its origin is relatively close to the direction of the Earth.
On the same day, the laboratory reported that the Sun formed one of the largest coronal holes this year: its diameter was estimated at about a million kilometers.
