A magnetic storm of Kp5+ level began on Earth after the planet entered the plasma stream from the coronal hole, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported.

“The speed of the solar wind in the vicinity of the Earth over the past two days has increased from about 300 to almost 700 km / s, so the collapse in the storm was expected.” One can only wonder why it didn't happen sooner, it said.

The Earth entered the plasma stream on the night of November 7, but the magnetosphere remained in the “green zone” before the storm began, the scientists noted.

There is a rapid increase in the auroral oval. In the north-west of Russia, with clear skies, the first faint auroras can already be observed, the laboratory reported.

On November 5, scientists warned about the approach of a fast solar wind from one of the largest coronal holes in 2026. According to the forecast, its influence can last at least five days, and the complete stabilization of the magnetic field is expected no earlier than November 13-14.
