Casting for the role of the new James Bond was replenished with two big names. Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Holt were among the contenders for the role of 007 and have already passed screen tests with director Denis Villeneuve, Variety and The Hollywood Reporter write.
Both actors are well acquainted with the work on large-scale franchises. Pattinson plays Batman in DC Studios projects and has previously starred in Twilight and the Harry Potter films. Holt plays the role of Lex Luthor in the DC Superman films and played in the 2010s X-Men prequel trilogy. Holt's next work is the Amazon MGM film How to Rob a Bank, which will be released soon.
According to Deadline, the name of the new performer of the role can be announced before the end of the month.
Last year, Amazon MGM chose Villeneuve to direct the next Bond film, the script is written by Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight. The launch of Bond 26 is a priority for franchise producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
Previously, among the main contenders for the role of Bond mentioned Callum Turner, Josh O'Connor and Jack Lawden. The studio and producers want the lead actor to be chosen from among British actors under 30. Actor Pierce Brosnan, who played Bond in the 1990s, recently endorsed Turner's candidacy. Gary Oldman spoke in support of Lawden, with whom he starred in the TV series Slow Horses.
In 2022, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos gained creative control of the bond.
