In China, launched a startup in the field of online dating Liangpei AI, working on the principle of “marriage or refund” – with a refund of the subscription fee if the user does not marry within three years, reported the newspaper South China Morning Post (SCMP).
The application was launched in July 2026. The annual subscription costs 2 thousand yuan (about 24.5 thousand rubles). Unlike traditional dating services, Liangpei AI selects only one potential partner at a time. To meet another person, you need to complete a previous acquaintance.
When registering, you must indicate your real name, upload a photo and confirm the absence of marriage. In the first month of operation, the verification system rejected applications from more than 150 married users.
New users undergo a 20-minute interview with artificial intelligence. Based on answers about family, education, work, interests, character and preferences, the system compiles a detailed profile for matchmaking.
According to the publication, in 2024, the volume of the Chinese online dating market reached 22.6 billion yuan (about 277.2 billion rubles). About 280 million people used such services.
In April 2025, Xinhua reported that Chinese authorities had simplified the procedure for registering marriages amid a decline in the number of weddings. Couples were allowed to marry regardless of their place of permanent residence. Household registration books were excluded from the list of mandatory documents. In 2024, 6.1 million marriages were registered in the country against 7.68 million a year earlier.
