The Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST) has asked tour operators for information about Russian tourists among train passengers colliding in Egypt.
The Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST) has asked tour operators for information about Russian tourists among train passengers colliding in Egypt. According to the data received at the moment, organized Russian tourists were not among them, said the head of the press service of the RST Artur Abdyukhanov.
Abdyukhanov explained that such railway trips are not typical for the standard package programs of Russian tour operators in Egypt. Transfers and most excursions for vacationers in resorts are organized by road, on long-distance routes domestic flights are used.
We do not have confirmed information about whether there were Russians travelling on the train. The absence of organized tourists does not mean that other Russian citizens could not be among the passengers. We continue to clarify the information, Abdyukhanov stressed.
RBC sent a request to the Russian Embassy in Egypt.
Earlier, Youm7, citing the National Railway Administration of Egypt, reported that two passenger trains collided on the section between Kafr Ammar and Raqqa stations. The Ministry of health of Egypt in the social network X reported 64 victims. According to Masrawy, four cars derailed, injured about 150 people.
