Indian authorities begin deportations of Russians after raids
Six Russians were among the foreigners identified in Goa who violated the visa regime: three have already been deported, three more are facing expulsion. ATOR stressed that this situation does not concern organized Russian tourists

The Regional Aliens Registration Office (FRRO) of the Indian state of Goa conducted raids to identify foreigners who violate the visa regime. During the inspections, five people were found without valid visas, including three Russians, in respect of whom the deportation procedure began. Three more Russian citizens were expelled from the country for exceeding the allowed period of stay, reports The Goan Everyday.
Three Russians were deported on November 4. All of them were in India on tourist visas, despite the expiration of the permitted period of stay. Two of them were convicted by the court, the third was expelled from the detention center.
Three more Russian citizens — two men and a woman — were identified on November 5 during a special inspection in the Kerim district of Pernham County. Together with them found a citizen of Ukraine and her minor son. All five had entered India on tourist visas but did not have valid residence permits at the time of the check.
The movement of the identified foreigners was restricted and deportation proceedings were initiated. Goa said similar checks would continue across the state.
RBC sent a request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of India and the Embassy of Russia in the Republic of India.
According to the Association of Tour Operators (ATOR), organized tourists from Russia, this problem does not apply. “Customers of Russian tour operators rest in the state of Goa on average 10-14 days, enter with the purpose of beach holidays on an electronic visa, fly according to plan, not allowing visas to expire, do not engage in illegal activities.” The described problem does not in any way affect tourists from the Russian Federation, whose rest is normal and without incidents, the ATOR said.
At least 70 Russians have been deported from Thailand since the beginning of 2026, Russian Ambassador to Thailand Yevgeny Tomikhin said in September.
“In order not to be included in the so-called immigration blacklists, it is necessary to know and comply with the immigration laws of Thailand, as well as to have a clear understanding of the scope of commercial work in the country,” the diplomat said.
In June, the Foreign Ministry advised Russians to be wary of traveling to Thailand because of the risk of detention at the request of the United States. The foreign Ministry of Thailand, in turn, called the country safe for Russian tourists.
In May, the government decided to ban the stay in the country for more than 30 days without a visa. The Thai Foreign Ministry said that there was no mass deportation of Russians in this regard.
