The Interregional Department of Rospotrebnadzor for the Arkhangelsk region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug reminded that 22 of the 25 administrative territories of the region are endemic to tick-borne viral encephalitis.

During the season, 7,967 people went to medical institutions due to tick bites. Most cases were registered in the Weli district (843), Ustyan (599), Onega (486) and Nyandom (474) districts. In 2022, 11,335 people were affected during the same period.

There were 33 cases of tick-borne borreliosis and 48 cases of tick-borne encephalitis.

Rospotrebnadzor advises to observe preventive measures: to wear special clothes to protect against ticks, and in its absence - to dress so that it is easy to detect ticks and not allow them to suck. It is better to choose plain light clothes. Treat clothes with repellents and regularly conduct self-examinations.

If you bite a tick, seek medical help immediately. If not possible, remove the tick yourself, following the rules of asepsis.
