The Ministry of Transport approved the design of a road sign that indicates parking spaces for large families. He was presented by First Deputy Minister Konstantin Pashkov to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at the International Youth Festival.
The design of the sign was chosen following the voting, which the Ministry of Transport conducted in July. A majority (46%) chose the option with a white "R" on a blue background and a picture of a family with three children underneath. About 4,000 people participated in the survey.
Now the Ministry of transport makes changes to the rules of the road, and then adjust the relevant GOST. “After that, the new sign will be able to appear on the streets of the country and become part of a large project to create a comfortable and family-oriented urban environment,” the press service said.
The new road sign will be placed at clinics, schools, kindergartens and shopping centers. What penalties will be applied for violation of the rules (parking cars on the ground for large families), is not yet known.
In May, the agency said it would recommend that regional authorities ease the rules for paid parking. The Ministry of Transport believes that families with four (or more) children should have two permits for free parking at home. In most cities, families can only get one permit.
