Infant mortality in Russia decreased to 3.3 ppm (that is, no more than 3.3 deaths per thousand births). This was stated by TASS Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.

“No large country has such figures, and even small countries, in fact, sometimes have a much higher figure, less,” said Murashko. He called this indicator a unique achievement of the Russian healthcare system.

Last May, the minister said that under-17 mortality rates had more than halved between 2012 and 2025. During this time, the indicator decreased by 61.5%. Infant mortality decreased by 57% over the same period - in 2012 16.3 thousand children under the age of one year died, in January-April 2025 - 1.1 thousand children. By the end of 2025, the infant mortality rate amounted to 3.6 ppm.
