The Ministry of Natural Resources called the reasons for the release of brown bears to people

In the Siberian Federal District (SFD) marked a complete failure of the main feed brown bear. This may be one of the reasons for the release of animals to settlements, said the head of the Department of state policy and regulation in the field of wildlife protection of the Ministry of Natural Resources Tatyana Aramileva.

The expert explained that in the SFO there was a crop failure of pine nuts, hazel, berries and mushrooms. “That is, almost the bear remains in the winter not full,” said Ms. Aramileva at a press conference (quoted by TASS).

Among other reasons for the appearance of bears in settlements, the Ministry of Natural Resources cited unauthorized landfills, attempts to feed wild animals, access to containers with waste and the lack of protection for households, especially in rural areas.

Since August, several bear attacks on people have been recorded in Russia, including fatal ones. The Ministry of Natural Resources does not consider the situation anomalous. In the Angara region and Buryatia, due to the invasion of predators, hiking trails are closed and restrictions are imposed on visiting forests. More than 300 bears have been shot in both regions.
