The Ministry of Justice of Russia included in the list of foreign agents director Andrei Zvyagintsev, journalist Mikhail Shevelev, bloggers Yerzhan Turgumbay and Pavel Ivanov, as well as the project “Anarchist-35”. This was reported by the press service of the department.
According to the Ministry of Justice, all persons included in the register disseminated false information about the decisions and policies of the Russian authorities. Andrey Zvyagintsev and Pavel Ivanov (foreign agents) interacted with foreign agents. Yerzhan Turgumbay and Anarchist-35 opposed a special military operation in Ukraine.
Andrei Zvyagintsev (foreign agent) is a two-time nominee for the Oscar in the category “Best Foreign Film” for the films “Leviathan” and “Dislike”. On September 16, France put forward a picture of the director “Minotavr” as a bid for “Oscar” in the same nomination. In May, the Minotaur won the Grand Prix of the 79th Cannes Festival, the second most important prize.
Among other awards of the director are the Golden Lion of the Venice Film Festival for Return, the Cannes Film Festival prize for best screenplay for Leviathan, the jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival for Dislike and others. In September 2022, Andrey Zvyagintsev (a foreign agent) left the Russian “Oscar Committee” because of the refusal of the Presidium of the Russian Film Academy to nominate a film for the “Oscar”. The director left Russia in 2021 for treatment in Germany, then moved to France.
