The difference is even clearer when it comes to having a baby. In Russia, in this case, 81% consider it important to formalize relations, in the United States - 63%. Among Americans, the share of those who do not attach importance to registration is twice as high as among Russians: 36% versus 17%. At the same time, the family experience of Russians and Americans is in many ways similar: 65% and 67%, respectively, grew with both parents who lived together. 88% of Russians and 82% of Americans were born in the registered union.
Proponents of formal marriage are more among women - 70% of respondents consider registration of a relationship important in the case of a long-term union. However, only 59% of men agree with this statement.
