Russian photographer Boris Kavashkin has died aged 81. This was reported by his son Anton Kavashkin.
Russian photographer Boris Kavashkin has died aged 81. This was reported by his son Anton Kavashkin.
Boris Kavashkin was born in October 1944 in Moscow. His career as a photographer began in 1967. He specialized in reporting and documentary for news agencies. He worked in TASS and the press agency “Novosti”. Boris Kavashkin worked in TASS for about 40 years.
The photographer shot the construction of the Baikal-Amur highway, the fighting in Afghanistan, the events before the collapse of the USSR and the storming of the White House in 1993. Mr. Kavashkin made one of the most famous shots with the Soviet theoretical physicist Andrei Sakharov, when he spoke at the first Congress of People's Deputies of the USSR.
