The Ministry of Health reported on new strains of influenza to which there is no immunity

New strains of influenza are circulating in Russia, to which Russians do not yet have immunity. This was reported by the Director of the Research Institute of influenza named after A. A. Smorodintsev of the Ministry of Health of Russia Dmitry Lioznov.

“This season, influenza vaccines have been completely updated (all three components of vaccines have been changed), which indicates the arrival of new strains of influenza viruses to which we are not immune,” Lioznov told reporters.

Dmitry Lioznov urged to vaccinate primarily vulnerable categories of the population - children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with chronic diseases. According to him, immunity is formed at least two weeks, so vaccination should be planned in advance.

Mr. Lioznov added that the flu situation in the country is stable. Russian manufacturers fully meet the country's need for influenza vaccines. Domestic drugs in Russia have been used for preventive vaccinations for five years. This, according to the expert, speaks about the status of Russia as one of the leaders in the development and production of immunobiological drugs.
