As recalled in the press service of the administration of the Leningrad region, in Sablinsky caves this project was held for the first time. Musicians and performers of the VII Choir Festival of the Leningrad region performed for the audience on September 13.
This was the first experience of this kind for the festival and for the venue. Underground space really changes the perception of music – adds reverberation, creates the effect of “sound through stone”, which is especially suitable for spiritual or chamber classics.
The chamber choir “Leningrad Voices” presented sacred music, and the ensemble of soloists of the orchestra played works of classical music. In the current chapel of St. Nicholas, the chamber choir “Leningrad Voices” performed. They performed sacred music – works of Ippolitov-Ivanov, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov. In the Column Hall, an ensemble of soloists of the Philharmonic Orchestra played. They presented classical instrumental works.
“Artistic Director Mikhail Golikov combined music with the unique acoustics of the caves,” the press service of the administration of the Leningrad region said.
