According to the analytical data of the NBKI, in September 2026 the total volume of applications for retail lending rejected by local banks reached 77.7%.
However, compared with August data (then the share of deviations was 78.6%), the situation improved by about one percentage point. The representative of the National Bureau of Credit Histories Alexei Volkov noted that such a tough approach of financial institutions to borrowers in the region and in the state as a whole is due to the strict measures of the Central Bank.
According to the expert, the monetary policy pursued by the regulator involves strict limits on the issuance of money to customers who already have serious debts. Financial institutions are not willing to take undue risks. They tighten the selection of potential customers, checking their credit history with special attention, which minimizes future delays.
In addition, by the beginning of September 2026, the average check on consumer loans decreased in the Karelian region - the indicator fell by 2.1% and was fixed at 168.6 thousand rubles. Experts emphasize that this dynamics fully reflects the all-Russian trend and is directly related to strict criteria for assessing the solvency of citizens by banks.
