A large-scale scientific conference has ended in Belomorsk, bringing together experts from various regions of Russia and Kazakhstan

From 1 to 5 October in Belomorsk, in the visit center "Zalavruga" was held the All-Russian scientific and practical conference "Ancient rock art: modern problems of conservation, management and use".
A large-scale scientific conference was held in Belomorsk, bringing together experts from various regions of Russia and Kazakhstan. The geography of the participants covered scientific centers from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Vladivostok and Astana. The key topic of discussion was topical methods of research and preservation of ancient petroglyphs.
The program of the event included not only the theoretical part, but also field visits. The participants visited iconic locations: the Museum of the Karelian Front, the White Sea Museum of Local Lore, as well as the famous monuments of rock art in Zalavruga, Yerpin Pudas and the pavilion “Demon Tracks”, where a century ago Alexander Linevsky made his discoveries.
A significant event was the exposition “Linevsky 44”, covering the period of the researcher’s stay in Belomorsk during the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the delegates were able to communicate with Oksana Pinchuk, the great-niece of the scientist.
The presentations of the Hermitage specialists caused a special resonance. They demonstrated archival images of Onega petroglyphs from the museum’s collections and shared advanced methods of digital fixation of artifacts. The conference ended with a discussion on management strategies for UNESCO World Heritage sites.
