From September 25 to October 5, the team of the Republic of Belarus took part in the XIX International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2026). The full-time stage of the competition was held in Hanoi, the capital of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, writes sb.by.

More than 300 students from 64 countries competed in the Olympiad.
IOAA continues the best traditions of international astronomical education and unites talented schoolchildren and leading specialists. Tasks require deep knowledge, analytical thinking and the ability to apply them to solve complex problems.
The gold medal was won by Yan Terekhov - a graduate of the state educational institution "Lyceum No. 1 named after academician Y. M. Ostrovsky in Grodno". Despite the fact that in Belarus, astronomy is studied only in grade 11, Yang began to master this subject already in grade 10 and showed a high level of training at the international level.
The laudatory reviews of the Olympiad were noted by Margarita Glushakova, a graduate of the state educational institution “Gymnasium No. 51 in Gomel”, and Sophia Mazurkevych, a graduate of the state educational institution “Gymnasium No. 41 in Minsk named after V. H. Serebryany”.
Behind every great success of young talents is always the colossal work of their mentors. Training and scientific support of the team at all stages were provided by experienced managers: Associate Professor of the Department of Theoretical Physics and Thermal Engineering of Yanka Kupala Grodno State University, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Kazimir Frantsevich Znosko and Associate Professor of the Department of Physics and Aerospace Technologies of the RFiCT of the Belarusian State University, Candidate of Physics and Mathematicsics Alexander Alexandrovich Spiridonov. BSU students won the International Financial Security Olympiad in Krasnoyarsk
