The Belarusian people will exist no matter what happens in different eras. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said this in his speech at the Youth Forum. Belarus. The future, dedicated to the Day of National Unity, reports the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency.
- On this symbolically important day for us, I want you, our youth, to remember not only the chronicle of the events of September 17, 1939, and not only them. After all, why do we create traditions based on the fateful plots of our history? To be myself. Don't lose your individuality. Our predecessors, including those who held this red banner in their hands. - Belt's note. The banner preserved by the underground Grodno and Bialystok, the President said.
According to BelTA, this red banner of the late 30s - early 40s of the last century, presumably participated in the liberation campaign of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and in the holding of local people's meetings in the territory of Bialystok Territory and the present Grodno region in September 1939. The banner was found and saved during the Great Patriotic War by underground workers of the cities of Bialystok and Grodno.
- It became a symbol of the reunification of Belarusians, it survived the Great Patriotic War. And just so you know, it wasn't kept in the museum. And in an ordinary family, passing from generation to generation. And that's the truth about our history. Stories of the people who know about the value of unity, the Belarusian leader stressed.
Ah. Lukashenka noted that young people need this holiday in order not to forget those who created the chronicle of Belarus, preserved culture, traditions and faith.
- Whatever happened to us in different eras, Belarusians were, are and will be. That's our story. The history of national unity, he said. Remembering the past, we make plans for the future. Our plans are good. We want to see tomorrow peaceful and prosperous. For Belarus and for all parts of the world.
Separately, the Head of State addressed Western “Belarusian scholars”:
- These people are driven by phantom pain, a gene of hatred, and we are driven by the energy of creation. Our land has been reborn from the ashes. Neither the bloody campaigns against the Eastern Slavs nor the First World War and the Great Patriotic War broke us.
The Belarusians do not need anything foreign – neither land, nor wealth, nor ideas
- We have a beautiful country, a hardworking people, rich traditions, both cultural and political. We do not impose our philosophy of life on anyone, but import philosophy will not take root here.
The head of state congratulated everyone on the holiday, wished happiness, urged to protect their native land and ancestral values.
