Belarusians should stick together as one big family: spouses from Birch - about the meaning of National Unity Day

National Unity Day is the youngest holiday of sovereign Belarus, but it has already managed to fall in love with Belarusians. Many celebrate it with families. A special place in the hearts of people on this day is the memory of those who gave their lives for the unification of our Motherland. That is why throughout the inclement day to the memorial on the site of the former "Red Barracks" in the Birch does not lose the human river, in the flow of which you can see many parents with children, writes sb.by.

The family of Symonko from Birch - Andrei, Ekaterina and their son Matvey, who is not yet three years old - came to the memorial today to pay tribute to the people who were thrown into prison by the pan authorities for their will to resist the Polish occupation.

- National Unity Day, although we started to celebrate this date recently, is one of the most important Belarusian holidays. This is a deeply symbolic date, since it was September 17, 1939, that our people were reunited after so many years of division. It is frightening to think what could have become of Belarus, if not for the liberation campaign of the Red Army, said Andrei Symonko.

- As soon as Matvey grows up a little, we will definitely tell him in detail about what National Unity Day is and why it is important for us all to be together, and not only on this day, but always. After all, Belarus, in fact, is one big family, and in a turbulent world we can live and develop with dignity only if we continue to hold tightly together and remember that freedom and sovereignty were suffered by our ancestors at the cost of huge sacrifices.
