Without “all inclusive”: tourists flee from Antalya to a new resort
Antalya has become too expensive and crowded. Now tourists are attracted by Erdek - the northern resort, where prices are three times lower.
While the southern coast of Turkey is suffocating from overtourism and prices in euros, a new location – Erdek in the province of Balykesir – comes to the radar of travelers. It is a quiet resort on the Sea of Marmara that is already saving the budgets of local tourists. But will it suit the Russians?
Why you should come here:
• Savings. Prices for accommodation, food and entertainment are two to three times lower than in Antalya or Bodrum. There is no robbery markup for “untwistedness”.
• Saving from the heat. While in the south the asphalt melts at +40 ° C, in Erdek thanks to the mountain forests it breathes easily, and there are no crowds on the beaches.
• Perfect for a combo vacation. You can combine tours of Istanbul and the beach: from the metropolis to the ferry to Bandirma at hand, and from there to Erdek only a couple of hours.
Why mass tourists will not come here:
• Short season. The Sea of Marmara is colder than the Mediterranean. Comfortable water (+24 °C) lasts only from mid-June to late August. In May and October, you can no longer swim.
• There is no classic All Inclusive. There are small boutique hotels and boarding houses with breakfast. Lunch and dinner will have to be in the city cafe.
• Complex logistics. There are no direct charters from Russia. You will have to fly a regular flight to Istanbul, and then get by ferry or bus.
Language barrier. English is not well known here, Russian is out of the question. There is no translator on the phone.
Erdek is an excellent choice for independent and active tourists who love to explore new things and are not tied to the format of a buffet by the pool. But if you are looking for a lazy turnkey beach holiday with a direct flight, this resort is not for you yet.
