It's safer to hurry. Employees of the traffic police increased control on the roads

Preventive measures aimed at preventing road accidents involving pedestrians, cyclists and users of personal mobility (SPM) are carried out by the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate from October 5 to 8. A correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency took part in one of the raids in the Oktyabrsky district.

According to the traffic police, these days they serve mainly in emergency areas of the road network, including pedestrian crossings, places with a mass stay of people, where there is a high probability of hitting vehicles. Particular emphasis is placed on safety in the evening, when traffic becomes more intensive. It is important not only for motorists, but also for pedestrians, cyclists and SPM drivers to strictly observe traffic rules. Deviating from the rules can be a tragedy.

At the crossroads. Aerodrome and Chkalov notice how a young man on an electric scooter drives along a pedestrian crossing, although he should have been in a hurry. Stop the guy. Employees of the GAI explain the essence of the violation. He won't admit it. It turns out that just three days ago he was already brought to administrative responsibility for the same violation of the rules. As a result, he is fined in the amount of one basic amount.

- According to traffic rules, it is allowed not to rush when crossing the carriageway on a bicycle crossing equipped with bicycle traffic lights or special signs, said Stanislav Leglik, inspector of the road patrol service of the Oktyabrsk police department. At the same time, you should move at the speed of a pedestrian walking and only making sure of safety. SPM drivers are prohibited from transporting passengers, as well as driving such means of transportation, not reaching the age of 14, outside residential areas without the escort of adults. I would advise parents to remind young pedestrians more often about safe behavior on the roads and the rules for using bicycles and SPM.

On I. Luchenko Street opposite the house No. 16, we stop a young man on a rented electric scooter. The reason is the same: he drove along a pedestrian crossing, not in a hurry, although he should have done it. Since the young man had previously not allowed such violations and admitted his guilt, a decision on release from administrative liability with a warning is issued against him. Next time he risks getting a fine.

- Changes to the Rules of the road were made more than a year ago in order to reduce accidents involving cyclists and users of SPM, says S. Leglik. All this time we have not stopped informing road users about the changes. Many people listened to us and began to apply these rules in practice. Although there are citizens for whom it is more convenient to drive along the crossing than to get off the electric scooter or bicycle and walk. With this category of participants of the movement, we mainly conduct explanatory work.
