More than 110 settlements of Belarus begin with the letter F. Details told in the NCA

Specialists of the National Cadastre Agency of the State Property Committee analyzed the names of geographical objects of Belarus, starting with the letter F. Such settlements in the country 111, the NCA reported.

It is specified that most of these facilities in Vitebsk region — 40, in Minsk and Grodno — 19. The leader among the districts is Postavsky, where at once 3 settlements on F.

- The letter F begins with the names of 1 city, 3 agro-towns, 4 villages, 4 farms and 99 villages. The most common names are Franopol (5), Filipovichi and Ferma (by 4), Fedorovka, Frolovka and Falevichi (by 3). Many of them are related to personal names and surnames.

The agency added that the only city on F is Fanipol in the Dzerzhinsky district. It was first mentioned in documents in 1856, and received city status in 1999. Since 2014, Fanipol is a satellite city of Minsk.

70 territories of special use regime begin on F. Among them are historical and cultural objects: estates, parks, temples, churches and fortifications. A special place is occupied by the Farny Church in Novogrudok - one of the oldest Catholic churches in Belarus. Here in 1422 the marriage of Jagiello and Sofia Golshanskaya took place, and in 1799 Adam Miscavige was baptized. Another interesting object is Folvark Rakutevshchyna, associated with Maxim Bogdanovich. In the summer of 1911, the poet wrote 17 poems and poems “Veronica” and “In the village”.

Also, 622 elements of the street-road network begin on F. The most common names are Frunze (96), Franziska Skaryna (87), Friedrich Engels (50), Factory (49) and Festival (32).
