Employees of the department of fraud processing suspended spending operations on 71 suspicious accounts, blocked six phishing Internet resources, and prevented the possibility of accruing 50 foreign payment details used by attackers. The operatives also detained two couriers working in the interests of scammers.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the most common methods of deception at the moment are visching (calls allegedly from officials) and theft using social networks. This is followed by buying goods online and renting housing.
In total, over the past day, the police received about 400 reports of calls from phone fraudsters. Thanks to the efficiency of internal affairs officers and the vigilance of citizens, the vast majority of crimes were prevented.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded that promises of quick easy earnings or goods at low prices on the Internet almost always lead to the loss of money. If you receive suspicious calls from strangers, you should immediately stop the conversation and report the incident to the police.
