More than 8 million people crossed the border with Abkhazia through Sochi since the beginning of the year

Over the nine months of 2026, more than 8 million people passed through the Adler checkpoint on the border of Russia and Abkhazia. During the same period, more than 1.8 million cars crossed the border. This was reported in the Southern Customs Administration and Rosgranstroy.

The most intense movement was observed in the summer season. On average, the checkpoint served about 55 thousand people and more than 6.5 thousand cars per day.

At the same time, the existing infrastructure is designed to pass about 1.5 thousand cars per day. The high load makes it necessary to expand the possibilities of border crossing.

To increase capacity and reduce queues, a new checkpoint is being built. The work is planned to be completed in late 2027 - early 2028.

After the commissioning of the facility, the possibilities of road communication between Sochi and Abkhazia should be expanded.

Earlier it was reported that jays staged an autumn feast on oaks in the rose garden of Sochi.
