More than 900 people attended master classes in the Northern Choir

From 5 to 8 October, the Northern Russian Folk Choir hosted a series of master classes of the cultural and educational project “Songs Unfrozen”. In total, more than 900 people visited them. This was reported by the organizers.

The project is implemented on a grant from the President of the Russian Federation to support creative projects of national importance in the field of culture and art. For four days, 60 master classes on folk vocals, dance and spoon play were held. They were conducted by the heads of vocal, choreographic and orchestral studios of the Small Northern Choir Elena Golchikova, Olga Korobkina and Svetlana Voevodina.

The participants were students and teachers of schools of Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk, the Arkhangelsk Cadet Corps, the Children's Craft School, representatives of creative teams and organizations, students of the Arkhangelsk College of Culture and Art, NAFU and the Northern State Medical University, including from China, Syria, India, Indonesia and Pakistan.

Under the guidance of teachers, the participants learned the Russian folk song “Vyvodna Varvara” of Leshukonsky district of the Arkhangelsk region.

- This song is not very well known in Arkhangelsk, and I have known it since childhood, when I went to classes in the children's folklore collective of the village of Leshukonskoe. We brought her leader Valentina Stepanovna Alimova, she was a collector of folklore. When we sang it then, the choreographic solution was traditional – braiding, and now we are doing a more modern choreographic production, orchestral processing, that is, we strive to breathe new life into it, commented Elena Golchikova, choreographer of the vocal studio of the Small Northern Choir.

Participants were divided into three groups - vocal, choreographic and orchestral, first rehearsed their parts of the concert number, and then united for a general rehearsal.

- The orchestral arrangement for us was made by Kirill Oshchepkov. He wrote a cheerful accompaniment with very cheerful losses, which are close in nature to children. At the master class, participants studied the basic techniques of the game on two and three spoons, and also mastered the elements of choreography. A group of spooners even got a new role: usually the orchestra sits behind the choir and ballet and accompanies, and here we in the final of the number came to the fore, shared the conductor of the orchestral studio of the Small Northern Choir Svetlana Voevodina.

Archangelotown Natalia Gorokhovik in her free time learns vocals, but she attended three master classes at once - on vocals, orchestra and choreography.

- It was with great pleasure that we sang alongside the professionals, with the artists of the main composition of the Northern Choir. It’s like touching a legend, shared Natalia Gorokhovik.

The result of the master classes was the number “Vyvodna Varvara” based on the song of Leshukonsky district. It will be presented to the audience at a concert on November 19 as part of the anniversary 55th Lomonosov readings at the Lomonosov Arkhangelsk Drama Theater. The participants of the master classes who passed the selection will perform together with the Northern Russian Folk Choir.
