More than a hundred hectares of land of the St. Petersburg RAS near Novgorod overgrown with weeds

The North-Western Interregional Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance has issued a warning to the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science “St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences”. This information is posted on the website of the State Prosecutor’s Office.

The State Land Control revealed signs of improper use and unsatisfactory condition of the agricultural land plot located in the Novgorod municipal district. The total area of the plot intended for agricultural production is 1,228,174 square meters. The right holder of the site is a legal entity - the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science "St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences".

On thirty hectares, potatoes were planted, on five hectares - perennial herbs. The rest of the land is clearly not used for its intended purpose, overgrown with alder, birch, willow and weeds. Trees and shrubs that sprouted on the site began to be cut down.

Rights holders of land plots in accordance with subparagraphs 1 and 3 of paragraph 2 of Article 13 of the Land Code of the Russian Federation are obliged to take measures to reproduce the fertility of agricultural land, as well as to protect agricultural land from overgrown trees, shrubs and weeds, but in a significant part of the site of St. Petersburg FIC RAS in the Novgorod region there are no signs of such measures. In this regard, the copyright holder was given a warning.
