The Okulovsky district court has convicted a 44-year-old resident of the city of Borovichi, who tried to “solve the issue” with migration checks with the help of a bribe, the prosecutor’s office of the Novgorod region said.
The accused handed over money to the head of the migration office in Okulovka. The crime took place as part of an “operational experiment.” The man hoped that for a bribe he would be helped to stop migration checks and release from administrative liability two foreign citizens who illegally worked in the district.
Criminal actions were stopped by employees of the regional FSB of Russia immediately after the transfer of money. The defendant pleaded guilty. The court sentenced the man to a fine of 345 thousand rubles.
