For our ancestors, this date was a time of economic worries. Women took out spinning wheels, men began grinding bread. At the same time, a fire was made in vins to dry the collected sheaves.

Lights of the evening sky and hot bonfires gave the day another poetic name - Zarevnitsa.

The start of the threshing was considered an important event on which the well-being of the whole family depended. At this time, the vin turned into the real heart of village life, and the peasants jokingly called him a birthday boy.

St. Thekla was called the Spraydress because the mistresses on this day necessarily began spinning, even for a short time: it was believed that the case started in Zarenitsa would certainly be disputed.

On Thekla finished harvesting beets and other root vegetables, trying to do everything until stable frosts. In addition, they brought order to vins, sheds and other buildings.

Those who helped the owners with the hammer, arranged a hearty dinner, usually fed porridge and pies. It was considered a good sign on this day to start important things that need to be completed. People believed that the Spraycat started on Thekla would be durable and long.

On October 7, our ancestors strictly adhered to a number of rules so as not to bring trouble to the house. The main prohibition is any family conflicts and rudeness towards elders. According to legends, disrespect for parents threatens with illness, and the quarrel, which began on October 7, will last for a long time, so peace and tranquility were maintained on Thekla.

It was impossible to swear and swear: evil words could turn into family problems. It was forbidden to give and borrow money in order not to lose wealth. Disorder in the house could attract troubles in the household, and tears and heavy memories - lingering sadness.

It was not recommended to make big deals and make hasty decisions related to money, so that there was no loss. You can not be lazy, evade everyday duties, abandon started business.

Folk signs have preserved many centuries-old observations of nature, which helped the villagers to predict changes in weather.

Birds fly low above the ground - to early and cold winter, and many acorns - will be mild winter and a rich harvest next year. The chickens hid early in the chicken coop - to the cold. About the frosty winter spoke and abundant crop of ash.
