The case of the official who tried to escape with gold crutches was transferred to court

In the Krasnodar Territory completed the investigation of the criminal case of the former head of the Crimean district Sergey Les and the head of the property relations department of the district administration. This was reported in the regional Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Officials are accused of two counts of abuse of power. According to the investigation, from January 2021 to December 2024, they helped three friends to purchase 13 land plots without bidding, under preferential terms and understated cost. The damage from these transactions exceeded 69 million rubles.

The property of the accused, as well as persons associated with them, was seized in the amount of more than 500 million rubles. The materials of the criminal case were sent to the court.

Lesya was detained in October last year. Initially, he was suspected of embezzling more than a hundred land plots worth about two billion rubles. Later it turned out that when he tried to leave Russia, he was going to take 100 million rubles, seven recently bought iPhones and 12 kilograms of gold. The precious metal was melted down and disguised as railway crutches.

In December 2025, 130 houses and land plots were seized from the former official, his relatives and acquaintances. In addition, the state collected 70 million rubles as compensation for previously alienated property.
