Since the beginning of 2026, more than a million adult residents of the Chelyabinsk region have undergone medical examinations and preventive examinations. Diseases of the respiratory system were found in 22.1 thousand people, 293 of them were diagnosed for the first time.
Respiratory problems can be detected at the first stage of clinical examination. This includes a questionnaire, fluorography or chest X-ray and a general blood test.
If the doctor has suspicions of chronic bronchopulmonary disease, the patient can be referred for spirometry. This study shows the volume of inhaled and exhaled air and the speed of airflow. It is also prescribed to smokers if there are indications.
If necessary, the examination continues: a person may be recommended a consultation of a pulmonologist or therapist, CT of the lungs and bronchoscopy.
A separate program is provided for those who have undergone COVID-19. In-depth examination may include spirometry, saturation measurement, six-minute walk, radiography, and in the second stage - computed tomography and specialist consultations.
